Borehamwood Food Bank is based at St Teresa’s Parish Centre, 291 Shenley Road & is open Mondays 1-3.30pm & Thursdays 10am-12.30pm. It is run by a whole wealth of Volunteers from all faiths ( & none) from across the Borehamwood area and is supported by local businesses and local people who donate non perishable items to give to local people in crisis.
Items in particular demand are: Milk (UHT or powdered) ,sugar, carton fruit Juice, soup, pasta sauces, tinned sponge puddings, tinned tomatoes, cereals, tinned rice pudding, tea bags & instant coffee, instant mash potato, rice & pasta, tinned meat & fish, tinned fruit, jam, biscuits & snack bars.
We have been open since the beginning of 2013 and had our official launch in June, this was attended by Bishop John Sherrington.
This summer, the Archbishop of Westminster, Vincent Nichols came to see the food bank for himself and dropped in at the food collection at Borehamwood Tesco’s.
