The Church of St John Fisher & St Thomas More, Rossington Avenue.
In 1955, Fr George Barringer, was asked to become the Parish Priest for Borehamwood North and oversee the building of a 2nd Catholic church in the area. This was to become Fr George’s passion and life as he worked tirelessly to get the Church going.
The Church of St Teresa of the Child Jesus, Shenley Road
In 1925, the first mention of St Teresa’s Parish is recorded. “Mass will soon be said in a private chapel in Elstree until such time as we are able to purchase land and build a church. The parish will be dedicated to St Teresa of the Child Jesus” (Cardinal Bourne). St Teresa had been canonised less than a month and so it is possible that Borehamwood was the first parish in the UK, if not the World, to bear her name.
