About Us

Welcome to the Website of the Catholic Parishes of Borehamwood.

The Catholic Parishes consist of the two Catholic churches in Borehamwood – St Teresa’s and Saints John Fisher and Thomas More. They are served by one priest, Fr Dominic McKenna, and a combined parish team. All sacramental programmes, social outreach, fundraising, spiritual and social events take place jointly between the two churches.

Borehamwood is just in Hertfordshire bordering the London Borough of Barnet. Famous for its association with films and film making it still has Elstree Studios with its infamous ‘Big Brother House’, and the BBC studios where East Enders, Holby City etc. are filmed.

St.Teresa of The Child Jesus is the larger of the two churches. It is situated at 291 Shenley Road opposite Hertsmere Civic Offices and close to Elstree Studios. The church of SS. John Fisher and Thomas More is on Rossington Avenue close to the northern end of Borehamwood. At the moment we have a mass going population of around 750 to 800, with a very ethnically diverse congregation spanning all age groups with a major bulge on the infant and toddler spectrum. St. Teresa’s Primary is our parish school and at the moment it is a one-form entry but well over- subscribed.

We have installed a camera at the back of the church at St Teresa’s to allow us share our ceremonies with those confined to their homes and to those who now live away from our parish. The camera is located at the back of the church facing the Sanctuary. It does not move or face the people in the congregation. Each day we will stream our Mass and all other ceremonies to people using computers, laptops, iPhones and iPads all over the world where there is broadband available. Nursing homes and private homes connected to the Internet are able to join us live here daily. Special TV set boxes are available for those interested. This will be also beneficial for families and friends of our parishioners who cannot travel here for funerals, weddings and baptisms. (A facility is available to record any of these ceremonies if you request it from our parish office in advance. These recordings will be available to views on-line or download on your own computer after the event). Please click on the link below to take you straight to the website.
